About The Position

The Before & After School Director is responsible for the overall supervision and leadership of the before and after school operations within the YMCA of Greater Rochester. This role focuses on revenue growth, fiscal management, facility management, and the hiring, training, and supervision of staff. The Director ensures that the mission and core values of the YMCA are upheld while providing a safe and enriching environment for children.

Requirements

  • Possess a bachelor's degree in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation or related field.
  • At least 3 years direct experience working with children under the age of 13, including at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Genuine interest in working with and enriching the lives of children.
  • Self-motivated, hands-on team leader with strong communication, networking, and collaboration skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and quality of service and facilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high standards of member service and programming.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Polished, professional demeanor with excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success in driving revenue and managing expenses.
  • Experience in fundraising and individual gift solicitation and cultivation.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for before and after school program operations within assigned district(s).
  • Responsible for hiring, training, supervision, and continued development of all staff in the assigned BASP district(s).
  • Act as a liaison between parents and program staff regarding parent or participant concerns.
  • General oversight of youth development programs and services in accordance with the policies, values, and standards established by the Association and OCFS.
  • Assist with the financial development of the Annual Campaign.
  • Facilitate department revenue growth and enhance program services.
  • Ensure the overall facility appearance and related equipment are maintained.
  • Accountable for department budget development and management.
  • Ensure all program operations are consistent with Association procedures.
  • Implement program initiatives that prioritize safety, quality, and excellent customer service.
  • Work closely with local school systems, administrators, principals, and teachers.
  • Serve as a member of the division staff team, assisting with special events, programming, and committees as assigned.
  • Maintain and further develop contacts with community agencies, corporations, and potential donors.
  • Work with volunteers as required.
  • Maintain all required certifications and trainings.
  • Attend all required meetings and training.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
