About The Position

The Lead Clerk for Beer, Wine, and Liquor at Pick 'n Save is responsible for creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service while managing the Beer/Wine/Spirits department. This role involves supervising daily operations, achieving sales and profit goals, and ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards. The Lead Clerk will also train and develop associates, promote a positive work environment, and implement business plans to drive department success.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.

Nice To Haves

  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Beer/Wine/Liquor experience.
  • Familiar with industry terms and processes.
  • Retail experience.
  • Knowledge of imported and domestic varieties, the flavor profiles and how they are made.
  • Knowledge of industry trends in specialty wines and beers as they relate to the customer.
  • Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing).

Responsibilities

  • Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service.
  • Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customer return.
  • Achieve sales and profit goals established for the department.
  • Monitor and control all established quality assurance standards.
  • Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the department.
  • Support the day-to-day functions of the Beer/Wine/Spirits operations.
  • Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates.
  • Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets.
  • Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation.
  • Train and develop associates on performance of their job and participate in the performance appraisal process.
  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
  • Inform customers of Beer/Wine/Spirit specials.
  • Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
  • Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
  • Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor.
  • Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note any discrepancies in inventory.
  • Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained.
