About The Position

The Beekeeper position involves managing live bee colonies to produce honey and ensure the health of the colonies. This role requires hands-on work with bees, including feeding, medicating, and inspecting hives, as well as maintaining equipment and facilities. The job is seasonal, with a contract period from January 15, 2025, to October 31, 2025, and requires a commitment to long hours during the workweek.

Requirements

  • Three months of recent and verifiable experience as a beekeeper with references required.
  • Must not have bee, pollen, or honey-related allergies.
  • Must be able to obtain a driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
  • May be required to take a random drug test after hiring.

Responsibilities

  • Attend to live bees to produce honey and maintain colony health through feed and supplements.
  • Medicate bees as necessary.
  • Find and cage queens, install queen cells.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, boxes, yards, and fences.
  • Assemble bee hives and insert honeycomb of bees into hives.
  • Force bees from hives and manage supers.
  • Uncap harvested honeycombs and extract honey from honeycombs.
  • Move equipment or bees from one location to another manually or using trucks, carts, forklifts, or tractors.
  • Drive farm vehicle to obtain supplies and honey extracting equipment.
  • Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping.
