About The Position

How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare: Sign on bonus available for eligible applicants. Coordinate, plan, and organize various clinical activities in the physician office under the direction of the Site Manager. Participate directly in patient care delivery as well as developing clinical staff work schedule and managing patient flow. Complies with all federal, state, local, Carilion Clinic and departmental policies and standards, as applicable. Assist the Site Manager with identifying, reviewing, and recommending suggestions to improve clinical care and outcomes. Serve as a liaison between Manager and clinical staff. Assist Site Manager in staff recruitment, selection and retention activities. Coordinate onsite orientation for all new clinical staff, complete clinical skill checklist, and orientation checklist jointly with Site Manager. Perform or assist with annual competency validation and performance appraisal of staff. Ensure annual inservices are completed. Assist Site Manager in ongoing staff performance improvement, development, and correction of poor performance or unprofessional behavior through education and corrective coaching. Assess, develop and maintain work schedule; coordinate requests for shift coverage; and coordinate patient flow throughout the day providing direction for clinical staff as needed - reassign staff as needed. Research requests for new equipment (pricing, vendor, etc.) and submit proposal to management. Order and restock supplies and equipment, and schedule equipment maintenance as needed and as applicable for department. Maintain work area, exam, treatment and x-ray rooms and lab as applicable to the practice. Observe all safety precautions and standards; train all staff and assure that all clinical staff comply with safety measures; maintain OSHA and MSDS manuals; and assure that all clinical staff complete annual health requirements. Participate in direct patient care delivery as appropriate for the individual certification or licensure. Assist with making calls for referral authorizations for specialists, consultations, and preauthorization's for testing and ancillary services as needed and as applicable to the practice. Perform other tasks necessary to the operation of the practice that may be assigned or requested by the Site Manager and for which training has been provided. Contributes to Carilion Clinic's performance improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required.
  • Experience: 1-2 years experience in physician office setting required.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) required.
  • AHA BLS-HCP required.
  • Other: Excellent interpersonal skills with effective communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills required to be able to utilize electronic patient records, budget and personnel software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
