About The Position

Bio Med Level 2 is responsible for the maintenance and service of assigned medical equipment. Performs various tasks associated with installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of clinical equipment with minimal supervision. Possess a comprehensive knowledge of the job and an intermediate level of expertise. The Bio Med Level 2 is capable of assisting less experienced technicians.

Requirements

Full understanding of medical equipment, human anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology.
Proficient in troubleshooting and repair techniques to perform equipment repairs.
Ability to perform preventive maintenance procedures on medium risk equipment and a limited number of high-risk medical devices.
Ability to read, interpret, and apply a great variety of technical data such as schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, table charts, mathematical expressions and formulas.
Ability to learn equipment maintenance, operating procedures, and repair procedures from training materials, courses, and/or manufacturer service literature
Fundamental knowledge of electronics to include analog, digital and microprocessor theory, pneumatics, hydraulics, optics, electro-mechanics, physics, basic networking, and chemistry.
Knowledge of the use of standard level test equipment to include, but not limited to, multimeters, electrical safety analyzers, patient simulator, storage oscilloscopes, manometers, tachometers, etc.
Possess the skill to utilize tools and test equipment required for job duties and responsibilities
Adherence to confidentiality requirements and safeguarding of protected health information (PHI).
Competent in using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for documentation.
Intermediate knowledge of regulatory requirements pertaining to medical equipment management.
Completion of a military training program in biomedical equipment.
Two years’ experience working as a Bio Med Level 1, or equivalent, is required.
Associate of Applied Science Degree or completion of a Biomedical Technician Certificate Course.
Must pass background checks and drug screening in accordance with company policy and applicable regulations.
Strong organizational and communication skills.

Must be able to lift and carry equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods as required in operational settings.
Must consistently be able to visually process documents, digital displays, equipment, and supplies, and evaluate customer requirements effectively.
Requires fine motor skills and coordination to handle intricate and sensitive equipment accurately; this also includes routine use of a computer for data entry, retrieving information, and related tasks.
May involve similar physical demands to those found in clinical or direct patient care roles.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to client sites or operational locations as needed.
Must be capable of operating a vehicle, which includes prolonged sitting and the ability to observe and interpret road signs, signals, and surrounding traffic conditions.
Regular verbal interaction with healthcare providers, coworkers, clients, patients, and visitors is required, along with the ability to hear, interpret, and respond to spoken information and concerns, clearly, promptly and escalate concerns if beyond the scope of a Bio Med 2.
