About The Position

The Beautification Seasonal Employee is responsible for the aesthetic maintenance and upkeep of downtown Howell and other city-owned areas. This role ensures a positive visitor experience by maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment through dedicated landscaping and horticultural care.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high aesthetic standards.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and interact professionally with the public.
• Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in landscaping, gardening, or grounds maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed weeding and plant care in downtown flower beds, planters, and city-owned green spaces.
• Maintain the overall cleanliness and appearance of high-traffic public areas, including litter removal and debris clearing.
• Water and fertilize ornamental plants and flowers to ensure health and longevity.
• Conduct routine inspections of designated beautification areas to identify and address maintenance needs.
• Enforce city policies and safety regulations while performing duties in public spaces.
• Operate light equipment and hand tools required for horticultural upkeep and minor maintenance.
• Support and help coordinate city-sponsored floral displays and downtown events.
• All other duties as assigned.
