The position is responsible for performing beautician services while also supervising Beauty Shop personnel and managing the daily operations of the Beauty Shop. This includes maintaining appointment records, overseeing the distribution of appointment information, and providing professional hair care services to patients and residents. The role requires effective communication with families and residents regarding their hair care needs and promoting good public relations for the facility. Additionally, the position involves communicating with the Administrator about operational concerns, assisting in hiring and termination processes, training and motivating staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing inventory, and providing billing data to the finance department.

  • Maintains appointment records for all client services with special attention to dates that permanents are given to clients.
  • Oversees the distribution of appointment information to each floor of the facility/community.
  • Provides satisfactory professional hair care services for patients/residents.
  • Effectively communicates with families and residents regarding hair care service and needs.
  • Promotes good public relations for facility while interacting with residents, partners and families.
  • Communicates with Administrator regarding all aspects of concern with the operation of the Beauty Shop and performance of beauticians/helper(s).
  • Assists in hiring and termination processes, partner evaluations, and corrective actions.
  • Trains, motivates, assigns and checks work of Beauty Salon staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all State, Federal, and Medicare and Medicaid regulations for the successful operation of a nursing home Beauty Shop.
  • Orders supplies within budget guidelines and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Records and submits daily sales records to Director/Manager.
  • Provides billing data to the Resident Finance Department on a weekly basis for Beauty Shop charges for residents of the Convalescent Center and Sparks Inn.
  • Provides assistance to physically and mentally handicapped residents, as needed.
  • Notifies appropriate staff of concerns regarding health condition of resident's hair/scalp.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of cosmetology.
  • Two (2) years' experience supervising operations of a nursing home or retirement center Beauty Salon.
  • Current and unrestricted Cosmetologist license in state of practice required. For Georgia, must be a Georgia Master Cosmetologist license.
