About The Position

The Beast Mode Instructor is responsible for leading group exercise classes in a safe and effective manner. Requirements

• Must have a minimum of current CrossFit Level 1 Certification, USA Weightlifting Certification, or National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
• Must be proficient with CrossFit exercises and have experience with Olympic Lifting, able to instruct to all ability levels with proper modifications.
• Must hold a current CPR/AED, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, and BBP certification.
• Excellent member service skills.
• Excellent knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and physiology.
• Marketing and sales ability.
• Computer skills involving Microsoft Office and email.
• Desire for health, wellness, and fitness promotion.
• Ability to perform under stress and reach deadlines.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Personal passion for health and fitness.

Responsibilities

• Arrives at the branch YMCA in a timely manner to clock or sign in and make necessary preparations to teach the class.
• Begins and ends classes on time.
• Prepares to teach the assigned class by establishing and announcing the class format and design.
• Ensures all equipment and music are appropriate for the class.
• Includes a warm-up, main body, and cool down (or warm down for water classes) and stretch in all classes taught.
• Keeps classes fresh by incorporating new music and exercises or movement patterns.
• Knows YMCA emergency procedures and the location of First Aid and AED equipment.
• Reports all incidents/injuries to supervisor or MOD and fills out an incident report before leaving the building.
• Leaves the room in a clean and orderly condition, ensuring all equipment is turned off and returned to appropriate storage areas, and exercise mats and bikes are wiped down.
• Works cooperatively with supervisor and fellow instructors as part of a fitness team and demonstrates a team spirit by substituting for other instructors when available.
• Speaks positively about other instructors to members and is knowledgeable about the group exercise program to recommend classes to members based on their abilities and/or interests.
• Acts as an ambassador for the YMCA, connecting members by learning their names.
• Adheres to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
• Attends/completes required abuse risk management training.
• Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.
• Follows mandated reporting requirements.
• Adheres to job-specific abuse risk management responsibilities.
