Employees in this role are responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining automated beam saw machinery to cut wood panels and materials according to production specifications. This role plays a key part in ensuring product accuracy, quality, and efficiency in support of Wood Systems Inc.'s custom millwork and architectural woodwork operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience operating beam saws, CNC panel saws, or similar woodworking machinery preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, cut lists, and work orders.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing safety practices and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in architectural millwork, cabinetry, or wood manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of beam saw control software.
  • Understanding of material optimization and nesting techniques.
  • Forklift or material handling certification.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate beam saw equipment to cut wood panels, laminates, and composite materials per job specifications and production schedules.
  • Interpret cut lists, read blueprints or digital files, and input precise measurements and cutting parameters into the machine control system.
  • Inspect materials before and after cutting to ensure accuracy, clean edges, and conformance to dimensional tolerances.
  • Load and unload sheets or panels safely using proper handling equipment and techniques.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on the beam saw to ensure consistent performance and prevent downtime.
  • Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout protocols, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Monitor output, optimize material yield, and identify opportunities to improve productivity or reduce waste.
  • Communicate with production leads, engineers, and other operators to coordinate workflow and ensure timely completion of projects.
