About The Position

The Beacons Manager is responsible for the leadership, development, and implementation of 3 Beacon Learning centers. This person provides direct supervision of staff, identifies and implements opportunities for continued program improvement, and engages in effective collaboration with community partners. The incumbent will understand and implement the mission, values, goals, and policies of YWCA Minneapolis. The position requires 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday during daytime/early evening hours, with the ability to work remotely up to two days a week. Shifts and sites vary based on program need, and the candidate must have the ability to travel to various program locations.

Requirements

  • BA in youth development, education, or other related field OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum of two years' experience planning and facilitating effective, structured groups for youth participants.
  • Minimum of two years' experience supervising and supporting staff, volunteers, and/or partners.
  • Ability to set standards, create a positive environment, coach and motivate staff to reach programming goals.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make quick decisions using good judgment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate effectively and work collaboratively with diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Possess current CPR and First Aid certification, or successfully obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Strong belief in YWCA and ability to convey its importance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide vision and management of quality programs, focusing on youth leadership and engagement, community and school connectedness, and healthy living.
  • Support program design to reflect best practices in youth development, ensuring programs are developmentally and culturally appropriate.
  • Review and evaluate programs with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the creation and management of effective program systems, such as schedules, registration, training, and recruitment.
  • Provide direct supervision to program coordinators and create a collaborative, strengths-based, and growth-oriented environment.
  • Troubleshoot disruptions to the program schedule, staff shortages, participant behavior concerns, and other issues.
  • Seek out ongoing staff development learning opportunities aligned with the YWCA mission.
  • Seek out community partners to enhance the program experience for youth participants.
  • Participate on external committees to maintain relationships and enhance YWCA engagement and visibility.
  • Engage principals, teachers, and other youth work professionals as partners through relationship building.
