About The Position

Assists with the management of Breezy Point Beach and Campground and performs administrative, supervisory, and technical duties. The work involves supervision of a public beach and campground to include, but not limited to, visitor and customer service, park maintenance and repair, and enforcement of rules and regulations. Assists with recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising staff. Assumes role of manager in their absence. Essential Job Functions Assists with daily park operations and provides excellent customer service and ensures services are open and ready for the public. Assists with managing a seasonal and daily campground facility to include, but not limited to, seasonal and daily contracts, reservations, and rule enforcement. Prepares daily work reports, uses Outlook for emails and scheduling, and uses Parks and Recreation software to manage and reconcile gate fees and concession sales. Enforces park rules and regulations and monitors park boundaries for trespass issues. Assists with scheduling, training, and assigning work to staff and volunteers; participates in hiring, payroll, leave, performance, and other personnel actions. Maintains records, prepares reports, and accounts for all funds collected. Responds to inquiries from the public and County officials regarding park operations. Responds to complaints, incidents and injuries, and serves as liaison for the community. Performs and manages general maintenance of park facilities and equipment involving painting, carpentry, and other general maintenance tasks. Performs equipment repairs. Orders, receives, and stores supplies. Performs weekly potable water testing for chlorine content; chlorinates water supply as needed. Recommends facility improvements, repairs, and new projects that will enhance the mission of the park. Other Duties Ensures the facility is ready for the winter season, storms, and any other adverse weather. Assists with event set-up. Performs related work as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (These are pre-employment KSA that apply only to Essential Job Functions.) Knowledge of-- Recreational facility management principles and general maintenance procedures. Effective techniques of supervision. Customer service and conflict resolution practices and principles. Microsoft Suite, scheduling software, and Point of Sale Systems. Ability to-- Perform park operations work. Manage staff and daily operations and implement policies. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others encountered in the work. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Enforce park rules and regulations. Deal effectively with the public.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One year of assisting with hospitality management, parks and recreation, or facility operations experience including assisting with the managing staff, daily operations, cash handling, and customer service.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Operation of County owned vehicle.
  • Subject to background investigation.
  • Requires long periods of standing, frequent walking, repeated bending, crouching, stooping, stretching or reaching; recurring lifting of objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to work weekends and holidays from May 1st through October 31st.
  • Exposed to hazards of working with tools.
  • May be required to enter the Chesapeake Bay.
