The position involves administering, directing, and managing the Surveillance and Evaluation Division for the Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention & Healthcare Access (BCDPHA). The individual will serve as the team's subject matter expert for surveillance, evaluation, and epidemiology, maintaining professional knowledge of current trends and guidelines. Responsibilities include communicating with leadership, providing a comprehensive view of chronic disease prevention strategies, and ensuring effective collaboration with partners. The role also involves developing statewide strategies, managing grants, and ensuring accurate data analysis and reporting.

  • Administers, directs, and manages the Surveillance and Evaluation Division for BCDPHA.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for surveillance, evaluation, and epidemiology.
  • Maintains professional knowledge of current trends and guidelines.
  • Communicates and collaborates with the leadership team on execution of surveillance and evaluation work.
  • Provides a comprehensive view of team-wide chronic disease prevention strategies.
  • Develops and implements statewide strategies related to surveillance, evaluation, and epidemiology.
  • Establishes and maintains partnerships with organizations from public and private sectors.
  • Ensures epidemiologists track grant-required indicators and performance measures.
  • Reviews and ensures accurate data set analysis.
  • Executes work plan activities for chronic disease prevention programs.
  • Manages chronic disease prevention-related grants.
  • Maintains communication with grant funding sources.
  • Writes and executes contracts or MOUs with consultants.
  • Collaborates with team members managing other funding sources.
  • Ensures evaluation and surveillance plans and reports are completed timely.
  • Provides input to monthly grant reports.
  • Supports grant writing efforts for the Bureau.
  • Seeks new grant opportunities aligned with Bureau Mission and Vision.
  • Conducts quality control review of subordinates' work.
  • Conducts annual performance evaluations for subordinates.
  • Conducts recruitment, selection, training, and professional development of staff.
  • Bachelor's degree, or Associate's degree plus 3 years of professional experience, or 6 years of professional work experience.
  • Minimum 4 years professional experience with project or program management.
  • Minimum 2 years professional supervisory experience.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Great attention to detail and follow up.
  • Proficient in the use of Zoom, Teams, and Microsoft Office.
  • Advanced degree.
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience with project or program management.
  • Minimum 3 years professional supervisory experience.
  • Minimum 1 year professional experience with data analysis and data visualization.
  • Relevant industry certifications.
