About The Position

The BCBA Special Education Consultant plays a crucial role in supporting special education staff and administrators in implementing behavior support services for students with IEPs from kindergarten through 12th grade. This position involves coordinating data collection, creating Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and supervising district behavior support technicians. The consultant is expected to demonstrate knowledge of effective instructional strategies for neurodiverse learners and provide professional learning opportunities for staff.

Requirements

  • Valid Professional State of Utah Special Education Teacher License or a valid Special Education license from another state that is transferrable to Utah.
  • 3 years' experience teaching in a special education classroom or working in a therapy setting.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university or completion of a bachelor degree program prior to the contract start date.
  • BCBA certification.
  • Experience with supporting behaviors in a school setting and taking behavioral data.
  • Experience with writing FBA/BIP.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-Lingual - Spanish Speaker.
  • ESL Endorsement or willingness to obtain one within 4 years of hire.
  • Degree in behavior analysis, social work, psychology, counseling, or related field.
  • Previous instructional coaching experience.
  • 5 years' experience teaching in a special education classroom or therapy setting.
  • BCBA certification with supervision qualifications.
  • ABA trained.
  • Safety Care trained or willingness to become trained within the first three months.

Responsibilities

  • Support special education staff in coordinating behavior support services.
  • Implement data collection and create FBA/BIP for students with IEPs.
  • Supervise district behavior support technicians and provide regular supervision hours.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of effective instructional strategies for neurodiverse learners.
  • Engage in continuous learning to improve professional practice and leadership skills.
  • Collaborate with families and colleagues to promote student growth and development.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and district policies.
  • Maintain professional workplace etiquette and confidentiality.
