About The Position

KIPP North Carolina Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to serve as a district-based behavioral specialist supporting schools in developing and implementing effective, compliant, and sustainable behavior systems. This role includes conducting assessments, guiding intervention design, building staff capacity, and ensuring alignment with MTSS and IDEA requirements. The BCBA will work across four schools, two in Charlotte and two in Durham, to support both individual student needs and system-wide practices.

Requirements

  • Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification in good standing
  • Master’s degree or higher in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience supporting students with disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder and emotional/behavioral needs
  • Strong knowledge of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
  • Ability to analyze and interpret behavioral data to inform actionable, student-centered interventions
  • Ability to move throughout classrooms and school buildings.
  • May include occasional lifting, bending, or physical intervention in accordance with approved safety protocols.
  • Work may include exposure to challenging student behaviors.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in K–12 school settings, preferably across multiple grade levels or campuses
  • Knowledge of IDEA, special education processes, and IEP development and implementation
  • Experience training, coaching, and building capacity in educators and support staff
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work across teams

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and other behavioral assessments in alignment with state and federal regulations
  • Analyze behavioral data to identify patterns, triggers, and functions of behavior
  • Use data to inform intervention design, monitor progress, and adjust supports as needed
  • Develop and support implementation of individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) aligned to assessment findings
  • Ensure interventions are evidence-based, developmentally appropriate, and culturally responsive
  • Monitor fidelity of implementation and overall effectiveness of interventions using data
  • Support schools in implementing Tier 2 and Tier 3 behavioral interventions within MTSS frameworks
  • Provide targeted direct support, modeling, and coaching in classroom settings as needed
  • Collaborate with school teams to reduce exclusionary practices and increase access to instruction
  • Serve as a key team member in IEP meetings, problem-solving meetings, and student support team discussions
  • Consult with teachers, school leaders, counselors, related service providers, and families
  • Provide guidance on proactive classroom management, de-escalation strategies, and positive behavior supports
  • Train and coach staff on behavior strategies, data collection, and implementation of BIPs
  • Develop and facilitate professional development aligned to behavior support, MTSS, and student engagement
  • Build school-based capacity to implement trauma-informed and restorative practices
  • Ensure all behavioral practices and documentation align with IDEA, state regulations, and district expectations
  • Maintain accurate and timely records, including assessment reports, progress monitoring data, and service logs
  • Participate in compliance reviews, audits, and monitoring processes as needed
