About The Position

The BBC Registered Nurse VIP PRN - OB/Labor and Delivery/Nursery/Mother Baby manages the care delivery for patients in the hospital throughout the length of stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. This position requires a VIP RN who is nursery and labor trained.

Requirements

• Must have 2 years of experience.
• Associate's degree in Nursing required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred, must obtain within 8 years of hire.
• Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing with the State of Michigan.
• BLS competency required by completion of core orientation.
• Critical care or Advanced Life Support is required for RN Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patients' health or the situation.
• Assess the patient's physical and developmental needs.
• Analyze assessment data to identify appropriate patient needs.
• Document nursing history and age appropriate physical/emotional needs/strengths for assigned patients.
• Review vital signs to assess condition of patient and detect deviations from normal.
• Analyze assessment data to determine patient problems or issues.
• Confirm problems with patient and family when appropriate.
• Document the expected outcomes and plan of care related to the problems through use of the clinical pathway and outcome teaching record.
• Identify expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient.
• Utilize patient/family input when defining outcomes.
• Coordinate discharge planning for outcomes not achieved utilizing the continuum of care available.
• Develop a plan that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
• Incorporate clinical pathways into the plan when appropriate.
• Implement appropriate interventions.
• Administer prescribed medication and treatment in accordance with approved nursing techniques and policies.
• Evaluate progress toward attainment of the expected outcomes.
