About The Position

The Battery Road Technician is responsible for installing, servicing and repairing equipment to include flooded and sealed batteries, chargers, and DC power distribution equipment.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school preferred.
  • Qualified applicants will have experience in trouble-shooting and repairing battery powered equipment.
  • The candidate must have basic computer skills.
  • Maintains good work habits and presents a favorable business image towards customers served by the company.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • A basic electrical understanding.
  • Must own proper tools to perform required repairs
  • Must hold a valid driver's license for min of 5 years.

Responsibilities

  • Performs Preventative Maintenance inspections of customer’s batteries, chargers, battery handling equipment, and battery changing/charging area and records data.
  • Replaces defective parts, reassembles battery, and fuses lead parts with gas torch.
  • Waters, Washes, cleans, and neutralizes customer’s batteries at customer ‘s location.
  • Installs equipment at customer's facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications.
  • Provides on-site technical assistance to help troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Maintains records of performance reports.
  • Provides a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer.
  • Occasionally download battery and charger data via a monitoring device and use the information to repair or correct battery/charger problems in accordance with the customer’s operation.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures as listed, but not limited to: warranty, safety, environmental, OSHA, DOT Hazmat, and ISO9000.
  • Must be able and willing to operate forklift.
