About The Position

As a Battery Power Solutions Technician you will troubleshoot motive power batteries, chargers and related equipment problems, complete installations, and perform unscheduled repairs and scheduled maintenance on equipment, based upon customer demand and need. Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED and/or one to three years’ experience in electrical theory, motive power battery and charger repair in a similar environment or equivalent in college or vocational education.
  • Excellent people skills and verbal communication is necessary.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
  • Demonstrated proficiency reading and interpreting schematics, maps, blueprints, and technical service manuals.
  • Hands-on experience with AC/DC power conversion, battery systems, high-voltage applications, and material handling equipment.Proven ability to deliver professional, customer-focused service while communicating clearly and courteously with internal and external customers.
  • Practical experience working with chemical reactions involving acids and alkalis in an industrial or technical environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to weld and solder lead using an open-flame torch in accordance with safety and quality standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages in support of technical work.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow verbal, written, and demonstrated instructions accurately and safely.
  • Experience staying current with industry innovations and product offerings to recommend appropriate solutions based on customer needs.
  • Proven ability to safely operate drills, grinders, forklifts, hoists, overhead cranes, and hand tools in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrated judgment in leveraging internal resources and escalating issues appropriately to ensure timely and effective resolution.
  • Willingness and ability to perform additional duties as assigned in support of business and operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively analyzes problem situations pertaining to breakdowns of customer equipment and recommends to customer actions necessary to correct situation.
  • Exhibits a professional demeanor and promotes goodwill between the company and customers by providing a superior level of customer service.
  • Observes, analyzes, and determines corrective course of action for service and repair of customer equipment.
  • Performs necessary repairs on batteries and chargers to correct analyzed situations in a professional and productive manner.
  • Performs scheduled maintenance on equipment for contracted customers according to Company policies and procedures.
  • Washes, cleans and neutralizes customers’ batteries at customer’s site
  • Follows safety rules and ensures that hazardous waste is disposed of properly.
  • Opens and closes work orders with Dispatch, provides service repair narratives (written and verbal) for customer, and submits paperwork for time worked and repairs completed in a neat, accurate and timely manner.
  • Accounts for 100% of paid time.
  • Maintains part inventory and supplies in van.
  • Maintains service van to ensure that it is clean, organized and hazard free inside and out
  • Ensures that regular maintenance is performed on service van (i.e., oil changes, tire rotations, etc.) and that required repairs are performed.
  • Performs manufacture authorized modifications per specifications.
  • Responsible for maintaining personal tools required for performing the job effectively and safely.
  • Maintains awareness of hazardous materials used daily and maintains personal hygiene accordingly.
  • Responsible for following customer safety and housekeeping guidelines when performing repairs at customer site.
  • Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
