About The Position

The Field Service Technician for Battery Energy Storage Systems is responsible for the installation, commissioning, and technical support of battery energy storage systems. This role involves direct customer interaction, ensuring operational excellence, and managing tools and equipment on-site. The technician will also handle warranty support and address performance issues, requiring a strong technical background and excellent communication skills.

Requirements

  • High School diploma with some college coursework.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as an electrical technician in the electrical power or energy sector, including necessary safety certifications.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including the installation of controls-related firmware and software.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers and team members.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with strong coordination and collaboration skills.
  • Quick learner, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a focus on attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with a commitment to integrity, accountability, and delivering on commitments.
  • Flexibility to travel extensively and work closely with customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in a technical field or Computer Science/Engineering.
  • Experience in managing, analyzing, and interpreting data.
  • Familiarity with battery standards, regulations, and safety procedures.
  • Proven track record in managing projects and teams, meeting program goals while adhering to quality, performance, schedule, and cost requirements.
  • Strong customer-focused problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Install and commission battery energy storage systems and related products, ensuring proper functionality and performance.
  • Install and configure control-related firmware to enable effective communication and control of the battery systems.
  • Conduct 'cold' commissioning (electrical checks using auxiliary power) and 'hot' commissioning (energized electrical checks) of battery systems.
  • Address and resolve performance issues, including cell and module charging/balancing.
  • Provide technical assistance for fault isolation and troubleshooting throughout all phases of the commissioning process.
  • Communicate directly with customers on all aspects of project execution, including accurate and timely daily reporting.
  • Manage the return and repair of defective parts to support warranty claims.
  • Travel to and remain at assigned job sites until tasks are completed.
  • Manage field tools and equipment for various assignments and projects.
  • Ensure high standards of operational performance in all areas of responsibility.
