About The Position

At Apple, as part of our Battery Engineering group, you'll help craft creative battery solutions that deliver more energy in smaller spaces than ever before! You'll work across teams to transform improved hardware elements into a single, integrated design. Join us and help us innovate new battery technologies that continually outperform the previous iterations. By collaborating with other product development groups across Apple, help push the industry boundaries of what batteries can do and improve the product experience for our customers worldwide. The Battery Product Development team at Apple produces high-energy and highly reliable embedded battery systems for all product teams. Tightly integrated with Product Development, Operations, Industrial Design, and Reliability Testing groups, we own battery module development from initial system architecture through ramp.As a Battery Cell Engineer, you will participate in engineering design and qualification efforts for new lithium rechargeable cell designs from concept to completion.

Requirements

• 3+ years relevant research / industry experience.
• Advanced degree (PhD) in Material Science, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related.
• Hands-on experience in battery assembly, teardown, testing, characterization and diagnostics.
• Familiarity with applicable test procedures, international standards, and certified agency requirements applicable to rechargeable lithium battery products.
• Familiarity with current innovative production processes applicable to lithium rechargeable cells.
• Experience with production of lithium batteries including statistical analysis of performance results, process capabilities, and design of experiments.
