About The Position

The Batcher position at Winland Foods involves efficient batching to ensure continuous availability to the production line. The role requires adherence to company safety, conduct sanitation, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) in all areas of responsibility. The Batcher will follow established batching Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and batching instructions, including documentation of key data for the processing of consistent, high-quality products. Responsibilities include communicating with Utilities, Leads, and the packaging supervisor to coordinate batch changes, transitioning batching activities to the following shift, and maintaining a clean and organized processing area. The Batcher will also be responsible for making calculations to correct batch errors, adding ingredients to batches, and driving a lift truck as needed.

  • Possesses strong communication skills (written and oral) and math skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, detail-oriented.
  • Complete understanding of processing operations.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Efficient batching to ensure continuous availability to the production line.
  • Adhere to company safety, conduct sanitation, and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Follow established batching Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and batching instructions.
  • Document key data such as lot codes, mixing times, and cooking temperatures.
  • Communicate with Utilities, Leads, and the packaging supervisor for batch changes.
  • Coordinate transition of batching activities to the following shift.
  • Use computer touch panel to view recipes.
  • Follow scanning and bar-coding procedures while adding ingredients.
  • Keep processing area clean and organized.
  • Make calculations to correct batch errors or adjustments.
  • Add ingredients to batches in prescribed manner and follow recipes.
  • Drive lift truck to spot ingredients and move pallets.
  • Assist in setting up drum, pumps, and other tools for handling ingredients.
  • Advise other batchers of necessary changes or corrections.
  • Provide information to Pre-batchers and Quality Assurance for batch adjustments.
  • Participate on plant teams and committees.
  • Respond to changes proactively and handle other duties as necessary.
