About The Position

Batch Plant Operator at Bethlehem Construction: Extensive experience in Batch Plant Operation, with a high level of knowledge in concrete and precast concrete mix designs. Run the machinery to mix concrete, weigh and combine raw materials like cement, sand, gravel, and water, and load trucks. Monitor the production process to ensure the final product meets quality and consistency specifications. This involves testing batches and making necessary adjustments to the mix. Perform routine maintenance, lubrication, and cleaning of the plant and related equipment. This may include minor repairs and troubleshooting mechanical issues, referring major problems to a supervisor. Monitor and maintain inventory levels of raw materials and admixtures, and coordinate material deliveries when needed. Maintain accurate records of production, material usage, and maintenance performed. Interact with ready-mix drivers, dispatch, and other plant personnel to ensure smooth and timely operations. May include operating heavy equipment like a loader or skid steer, sweeping up spilled materials, and preparing the plant for seasonal startup and shutdown. Demonstrates excellent computer skills, requiring in-depth knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Conducts and reports budget tracking. Schedules batching timelines and reports on job progress to Bethlehem Construction Management. Leads safety efforts, alerts them of safety issues, and ensures adherence to safety policies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Batch Plant Operation, preferably in precast concrete.
  • Must be able to read and understand mix design and specifications.
  • Must be able to lead batching operations from start to finish effectively.
  • Must understand Construction Safety Requirements and Compliance and be a Safety Advocate for Bethlehem Construction, Inc.
  • Mechanical aptitude for equipment inspection, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure precise measurements and mix consistency.
  • Ability to understand and interpret computer orders, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Good communication skills.
  • The role often requires physical strength (ability to lift to 75 pounds), working in various weather conditions, and performing manual labor like cleaning and shoveling
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Excellent communication skills with various parties, including Management, Subcontractors, Consultants, Engineers, Architects, Vendors, and Clients.
  • Candidates must be well-spoken, professional, and polite.
  • Must be self-motivated, positive, and willing to collaborate.
  • Must be a proactive, engaged team member who looks at all aspects of mix design and construction to ensure that all project phases go smoothly.
  • Must have an aptitude to learn new skills and a willingness to manage change in self and organization.
  • Must have a keen sense of attention to detail.
  • Must be willing and able to implement directions quickly and correctly.
  • Demonstrates excellent computer skills, requiring in-depth knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
