About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the concrete batch plant. The Batch Plant Manager is responsible for production quality, equipment readiness, inventory control, and personnel supervision to ensure uninterrupted delivery of concrete that meets Company standards. The incumbent must support the guiding beliefs and core values of Orion, which are centered on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Teamwork most importantly, with each built upon the all-important foundation of Integrity.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience.
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience concrete batch plant operations or related production environment required.
  • Successful candidates must have the ability to interact and communicate effectively with others.
  • Experience reading and interpreting documents such as plans and specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Experience managing personnel.
  • Outstanding leadership and high-level decision-making abilities.
  • Working knowledge of Project Management software, Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibility for the overall operation of the batch plant, ensuring consistent production of quality concrete in compliance with specifications and schedules.
  • Directs and assigns work to batch plant operators and yard personnel.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of batch plant equipment in coordination with the Equipment Manager and maintenance teams.
  • Monitors raw material inventory levels (cement, aggregates, admixtures) and coordinates timely ordering and delivery.
  • Ensures accurate batching, ticketing, and documentation of all loads produced.
  • Implements and enforces quality control procedures for mix designs and finished product.
  • Coordinates daily production schedules with dispatch, project managers, and operations leadership.
  • Oversees plant housekeeping, site organization, and environmental compliance standards.
  • Participates in budgeting and capital planning for plant upgrades, repairs, and improvements.
  • Maintains operational records and reports related to production, downtime, maintenance, and staffing.
  • Responsible and accountable for incumbent’s own personal safety.
  • Responsible and accountable for the safety of all co-workers and any others incumbent comes in contact with.
  • Authorized and obligated to stop work on any task or series of tasks whenever an unsafe condition or situation is anticipated or is observed.
  • Complies with all applicable laws, regulations and Company policies and procedures.
  • Reports any and all violations promptly.
  • Performs other related administrative and technical duties as assigned.
