About The Position

Under the direction of the Crew Leader, performs compounding of materials in a batch processing environment by following specific instructions and procedures within specification, to schedule and on time. In this role, you will work 1st shift, 5AM-3:30PM, Mon-Thurs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Experience in a related field
  • Valid state driver’s license, with a good driving record
  • Mechanical aptitude with practical application skills
  • Analytical ability
  • Speak and write English clearly and distinctly
  • Perform with minimal supervision
  • Perform basic mathematical skills
  • Take direction and apply to the assigned task
  • Work performed is very physical in nature
  • Routine bending, stooping, stair climbing and reaching required
  • Lifting and carrying materials and supplies, typically weighting 50 pounds or more
  • Manual dexterity is required to operate tools, machinery, forklifts and controls
  • Special safety requirements, when working in a plant environment may apply
  • May be exposed to or required to handle hazardous materials
  • May work in temperature and weather extremes

Responsibilities

  • Produce quality products as scheduled and on time.
  • Complete daily production requirements by following production schedule.
  • Maintain assigned equipment by performing required pre-operational, in process and post batch inspections. Immediately report any possibilities of contamination, needed mechanical repair or safety issues to the Crew Leader.
  • Complete pre-compounding process. Locate raw materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and quantities needed as indicated on batch ticket. Report shortages to the Crew leader, or in his/her absence, the Materials Department immediately.
  • Produce quality products by following batch ticket instructions, sequences, and quality control procedures exactly.
  • Document raw material use by recording consumption on the batch ticket.
  • Document all required information and any discrepancies in materials (additions or deletions), processing steps, temperature variations, etc., on the batch ticket.
  • Prepare and deliver marked batch samples to the Quality Control Laboratory as required.
  • Control the reintroduction or remix material into the mixers per Quality Control batch ticket instructions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, facility and equipment by following routine housekeeping standards.
  • Cap or plug hose and plumbing fittings when not in use.
  • Properly store all properly capped, covered or closed operating supplies such as raw materials, drums, totes, etc. in their designated locations before the end of the shift.
  • Remove empty raw material containers, packages, bags and sacks before the end of the shift.
  • Equipment must be kept cleaned of raw material residue, chemicals and adhesive.
  • Sweep and mop work areas as needed and at the end of each shift. Rinse mop heads and mop buckets and return to the proper storage area after each use.
  • Return cleaning equipment to assigned area after each use.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by following the W. F. Taylor “Safety Rules and Guidelines” and the “Code of Safe Practices” as defined in the “Employee Safety Handbook”, and by Company policy.
  • Maintain respirator certification through required physicals and fit tests.
  • Participate in physical inventories and cycle counting.
  • Contribute to team effort, i.e. assisting in any area required, etc.
  • Train designated employees on compounding procedures.
  • Participate in safety, loss control, accident, incident and rework investigations, as assigned.
