The Batch Chemist will work in our sports coating department and is responsible for ensuring all raw materials and products meet required specifications, keeping accurate records, and data entry. This work is critical to the success of coatings and will require high organizational and analytical skills. Requirements

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of MS Office products.
  • Ability to use formulation programs.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to effectively deal with problems involving multiple variables in time sensitive situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • At least three years’ experience working in coatings laboratory
  • Prefer a bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in chemistry or related field with five-year experience in coatings laboratory

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of NetSuite a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for interfacing between the laboratory and production.
  • Responsible for ensuring production sheets are accurate prior to and after production.
  • Responsible for entering production data into the computer system to ensure accurate inventory of raw materials and products.
  • Responsible for ensuring all lab equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and cleaned according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Responsible for testing material retains at specified intervals, tracking, and analysis.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn color theory and spectrophotometry for color matching custom orders.
  • Ability to adjust batch formulations to ensure the finished product meets required specifications.
  • Strict adherence to procedures and safety.
  • Maintain incoming raw material retains.
  • Monitoring raw material inventory levels.
  • Ability to pull raw materials from inventory and accurately weigh quantities on scales for production support.
  • Ability to assist and/or perform laboratory scale and small production batches.
  • Ability to drive a forklift
