About The Position

We are looking for a Basketball Referee! Who are we: New Mexico Sports & Wellness is Albuquerque's leading upscale athletic, aquatics, tennis, and family fitness club, with 5 convenient locations. Our clubs support the lifestyles of busy professionals, families, health enthusiasts and those who simply strive to be more active by providing a wide spectrum of unique fitness and wellness services. What our Basketball Referees are all about: Our Basketball Referees are responsible for keeping accurate scores for league game in play. While being an official who watches a game or match closely to ensure that the rules are adhered to and (in some sports) to arbitrate on matters arising from the play.

Requirements

You have a high school diploma or equivalent (i.e. GED)is required.
You have one year of previous Referee and scorekeeping experience in basketball;
You have the ability to communicate effectively in high pressure situations.

Nice To Haves

You have a CPR & First aid certification is preferred, however this is not required.
You have thorough knowledge of basketball rules and regulations.
You have training in basketball officiating and league referee experience is a plus.
You have excellent leadership, customer service and verbal communication skills a must.

Responsibilities

Create successful programs and build community relationships.
Commit to 8-10 hours per week working league programs and completing administrative duties.
Decide disputable matters according to established regulations.
Make calls and awards penalties according to regulations.
Control beginning and ending of play, and time outs during the game.
Observes actions of participants to detect infractions of rules.
Eject game participants for serious infractions.
Deal with conflict resolution.
