There are still lots of open positions. Let's find the one that's right for you.
The University of Chicago's Graham School is seeking Basic Program instructors to teach from a four-year curriculum of Classical and Western core texts, as well as a two-year Alumni sequence modeled on the core program. Instructors should have some area(s) of related expertise and be prepared to teach any part of the standard curriculum. They may also propose and lead courses of their own design. All courses are text-driven and utilize the Socratic method of discussion and analysis. Basic Program courses are offered online and onsite at the Gleacher Center in downtown Chicago. As non-credit courses, instructors are not responsible for student assessments, meaning there are no tests or papers to grade. Teaching loads can vary from quarter to quarter based on instructors’ needs, student demand, and performance. Instructors receive contracts prior to each quarter confirming their course sections and compensation, which can differ significantly. Continued employment is contingent on an annual review based on student evaluations, classroom observations, and participation in collegial meetings and events.
