The Department of Medicine and the Cancer Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) announces an opportunity for a basic or translational scientist with research focus in cancer biology and/or novel therapeutics. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated research interest in one of the following areas: oncogenic drivers of malignant transformation and disease evolution, interrogating the mechanism of therapeutic resistance, genetic and epigenetic regulation of disease, in vitro and animal modeling of disease, understanding the tumor microenvironment, novel mechanisms of early detection, cancer immunology and immunotherapy, and development of novel/targeted therapies. The candidate will be responsible for developing a basic or translational research program. The leadership of the Cancer Center and Cancer Research Institute, and Department of Medicine will provide mentorship and support to the candidate to accomplish these goals. Assistant professor candidates will have a track record of publications in high impact journals, mentored grants, and will show strong potential for independent funding. Associate professor candidates will also have established independent funding. Candidates for this position must meet criteria for appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. The successful candidate must have demonstrated scholarly activities with achievements in basic or clinical research and possess potential for program development, and teaching and mentorship abilities. The successful candidate may have a clinical component to their role. Pay Range: $215,000 - $520,000 The base pay range reflects what Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (HMFP) reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role at the time of posting and may be modified from time to time. Actual compensation within this range may be determined based on several factors, including academic appointment, work experience, specialty training, geography of work location, anticipated productivity, FTE basis, and role expectations.
