About The Position

The Emergency Medical Technician - Basic position at Nacogdoches County EMS involves providing pre-hospital patient care as defined by the Texas Department of Health and the U.S. Department of Transportation. The role includes operating under local medical protocols, staffing the 9-1-1 Communications Center, and taking emergency calls. EMTs will transmit and receive information from EMS personnel in the field and operate emergency vehicles safely in accordance with Texas laws and departmental policies. The position also requires maintaining departmental standards, completing necessary documentation, and performing preventative maintenance on emergency vehicles.

Requirements

• Texas Department of Health - Emergency Medical Technician - Basic certification (required)
• AHA BLS Certification (required)

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-hospital patient care as defined by the Texas Department of Health and the U.S. Department of Transportation for Emergency Medical Technician - Basic.
• Staff 9-1-1 Communications Center and take 9-1-1 calls.
• Transmit to and receive information from Emergency Medical Services personnel in the field.
• Operate all emergency vehicles in the Emergency Medical Services Department safely and in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and the policies of the Emergency Medical Services Department.
• Maintain acceptable departmental standards of Emergency Medical Services, City and County roadways, traffic laws, use and care of equipment.
• Complete the necessary Emergency Medical Services forms and documentation.
• Perform preventative maintenance on the emergency vehicles.
