About The Position

The Freshman Baseball Coach is responsible for planning, directing, and supervising all phases of the Junior Varsity Baseball Program in accordance with the MIAA, Tri-Valley League, Athletic Department, and School policies. The coach will oversee the physiological and skill development of student-athletes, ensuring that each participant reaches their maximum potential through a structured program of skill learning and improvements. This position reports directly to the Head Coach and Athletic Director, while also liaising with the High School Principal. The coach will work under the direction of the Varsity Head Coach to maintain a consistent philosophy of skill development among student-athletes.

• Comprehensive knowledge of baseball and ability to demonstrate and teach individual skills.
• Ability to motivate student-athletes to reach their maximum potential.
• Professional appearance and actions.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience as a Junior Varsity Baseball Coach.
• Certification in CPR, First Aid, or equivalent.
• Employment as a member of the teaching staff.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility as designated by the Athletic Director and Head Coach.
• Organizes, coaches, and administers the Junior Varsity Baseball Program.
• Adheres to the policies of the Bellingham School Committee.
• Follows the procedures in the Athletic Department Staff Handbook.
• Teaches all skills while adhering to sound coaching practices, including health and safety aspects.
• Manages equipment inventory.
• Enforces disciplined and sportsmanlike behavior among players.
• Provides input and guidance to the Head Coach.
• Oversees safety conditions of the facility or assigned area, including locker rooms.
