Job Summary : Responsible for coordinating patient transfers into and out of all Virtua acute care facilities. This role facilitates physician-to-physician communications, capacity approval, and transportation coordination for those seeking to transfer a patient into the Virtua Health System for admission or treatment. The Base Communicator works with service line leadership Coordinating the transfer of external and internal patients that need emergent or non-emergent Neurological, Cardiac, and other specialized medical services at a Virtua Health facility. Responsible for the department unit response and placement to ensure the efficient flow of emergency and non-emergency transports and the incoming and outgoing telephone and radio transmissions. Responsible for the daily operations of Medcom, to assure professional and consistent standard of radio and phone communications for the Emergency Medical Services Department. Interact with EMS staff, coordinate emergent and non-emergent transportation and interact with facilities to assist with movement of patients. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
