About The Position

The Principal Engineer at Xcel Energy is a technical expert responsible for leading complex engineering projects and providing advanced technical guidance. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum.
• 9+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration required.
• Demonstrated unique technical skills and core competencies for the engineering level.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in power plant operations and in-depth boiler experience.
• Strong knowledge of ASME code B31.1.
• Proficiency in stress pipe analysis.
• Advanced project forecasting skills.
• Familiarity with SAP and EPM.
• Budget planning experience and skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical subject matter expert for advanced engineering projects.
• Conceive, plan, and conduct research to develop procedures, codes, and standards.
• Lead multiple critical and complex projects including research, design, and installation.
• Act as an advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies.
• Manage bid and evaluation processes, including preparation of bid documents and technical evaluations.
• Provide oversight and mentoring to engineers, interns, and technicians.
• Coordinate processes related to budgeting, estimating, and work order management.
