About The Position

The facilities base building technician will lead and support building inspection and maintenance processes/repairs to mechanical, electrical, plumbing equipment and systems in the facilities. This role will perform inspections and repairs to assigned property interior and exterior areas, including walls and flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, lighting, etc. A day in the life… Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures Perform maintenance, monitoring repairs to the Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems for the facility to keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards as assigned Ensures that work performed is accomplished efficiently with a minimum amount of disruption of building services Respond effectively to emergencies and support after-hours building related activity as requested Manage installations of new and/or replacement equipment as required Performs and/or delegates preventative maintenance tasks to the appropriately qualified maintenance staff member. Partners with and accompanies outside vendors performing work in assigned building. Orders parts and equipment required for repair, maintenance and installation of new equipment and facilities, and maintains inventory Safely operates equipment: forklifts, scissor and boom lifts, hand tools Creates and closes out work orders with data including labor hours, equipment maintenance and parts used Complies with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials Recommends and estimates facilities repairs and improvements for inclusion in the annual budget Prepares and submits purchase order requests, developing sources for stock materials and performing periodic checks for supplies. Move up to 49lbs as well as stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and basic electrical
  • Special knowledge and skills – Experience with HVAC, fluid handling/pumping, fluid filtering, mechanical systems, welding, and electrical systems engineering and operation
  • EPA 608 Universal Technician Certification
  • Ability to troubleshoot both electrical and mechanical systems
  • Completion of an applicable technical training program is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of power tools, pneumatic, or hydraulic tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Candidate must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and internet usage and navigation

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of building automation systems is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of controls systems & PLC’s. (preferred)
