About The Position

The Watergate Hotel, a luxurious urban resort located along the banks of the Potomac River in Washington, D.C., is undergoing a legendary revival, blending modern design with a storied past. It is centrally located, offering access to the city's cultural richness. The hotel is currently seeking talented and experienced bartenders to join its team.

Requirements

  • 2+ years direct bartending experience in an upscale, luxury or high volume bar/restaurant.
  • Must be able to demonstrate superior bartending skills.
  • Deep and seasoned knowledge of craft cocktails, liquors, beers, wines, whiskeys, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of Whiskey.
  • Must be able to present one's self with an uplifting and polished demeanor at all times.
  • A flexible schedule is required; must be able to work late nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Prior successful up-selling expertise that will enhance our guests' beverage experience.
  • High school diploma is required (must be 21+ years of age).
  • Must possess superior communication skills with fluency in English required.
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
  • Can communicate well with guests.
  • Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock.
  • Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check.
  • Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers and patrons.

Nice To Haves

  • Bartending coursework or certification is strongly preferred.
  • Those with bi-lingual abilities will be preferred.
