About The Position

The Bartender is responsible for ensuring guests enjoy a welcoming and memorable experience through professional and attentive service. This role prepares and serves both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages with skill and efficiency, while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and presentation. With strong product knowledge and a friendly, engaging approach, the Resort Bartender helps create the warm atmosphere that supports SMR’s Legendary Service and Promise of exceptional guest satisfaction.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification for ‘ABC’ (Alcoholic Beverage Commission) license is required within 5 days from work start date.
  • Certification for ‘ServSafe Food Handler Program’ is required within 30 days from work start date (Basic Food Safety, Personal Hygiene, Cross-Contamination and Allergens, Time & Temperature, & Cleaning and Sanitation).
  • Ability to work within a diversified workforce.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of mixology, barkeeping, or other related training strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and interact with customers in a friendly, professional manner
  • Prepare and serve beverages according to standard recipes or customer requests
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar area
  • Responsible for adhering to all Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission (ABC) laws and regulations to ensure safe, legal, and responsible service of alcohol
  • Monitor customer behavior and consumption to ensure safety and compliance with laws
  • Uses proper judgment and, when necessary, refuses service to patrons who are intoxicated or disruptive
  • Instruct guests on how to operate cashless payment systems.
  • Host a safe and interactive environment that all children and families can enjoy.
  • Multitask alongside fellow team members.
  • Compliance with TOSHA certifications, biohazards procedures, and responsibilities for safety in handling.
  • Knowledge and ability to comply with all company operating policies and procedures.
  • Perform other incidental and related duties as required and/or assigned.
  • Operate the POS system and accurately charge guests for all items consumed.
  • Daily prep work, including restocking and garnishes for the shift.
  • Daily cleaning and breakdown of the bar at the end of each shift, including washing of all utensils and barware
  • Assist with daily and/or monthly liquor counts and inventory.
  • Contributes to building a positive team spirit.
  • Interact with team members and guests in a positive and friendly manner, in all situations.
  • No team member will pose a direct threat to the health/safety of self or others.
  • Personally, demonstrate a commitment to SMR standards by responding to management and team members promptly.
  • Provide exceptional food and beverage experiences while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • High standard of accuracy in all aspects of the job and other project assignments.
  • Respond to guest related items and issues promptly and professionally in a manner that is consistent with SMR core values.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and excellent judgment regarding privileged information.
  • Ensure my work areas are safe, organized, and maintained.
