Principle Purpose of Job The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality beverages while ensuring a welcoming and professional guest experience. This role requires strong product knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver consistent service in both bar and restaurant settings. Bartenders at Devil’s Thumb Ranch are expected to uphold service standards, engage with guests in a knowledgeable and professional manner, and support overall restaurant operations as needed. Please note that this role may involve placements in Heck's Tavern, Ranch House Restaurant, Volario's, Café Giocondo, or on our Banquets team. Our collaborative environment aims to provide growth opportunities for all employees, and while preferences are welcome, placements will be based on operational needs and skill sets. Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of bartending experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of wines, beers, cocktails, and spirits.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with guests and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated reliability, dependability, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Positive attitude, team-player mindset, and flexibility to support multiple roles when needed.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform repetitive tasks and lift/carry up to 30 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification such as sommelier, mixologist, or cicerone preferred.
  • Food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for bar and restaurant guests.
  • Provide excellent guest service—greeting, engaging, taking orders, and ensuring a positive experience.
  • Assess guest needs and preferences, making thoughtful recommendations on wines, beers, cocktails, and spirits.
  • Mix ingredients to create cocktails with consistency and flair.
  • Verify guest identification to ensure legal drinking age compliance.
  • Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies as needed.
  • Contribute to team success by flexing into serving, hosting, food running, and back-serving roles when needed.
  • Maintain compliance with all food and beverage regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
