Summary of Responsibilities: The bartenders' primary responsibility is to welcome guests, take orders, and prepare and serve food and beverage items to guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner following quality standards. The bartender must maintain supplies and follow hotel cleanliness and sanitation guidelines.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED is preferred
Experience as a bartender required, preferably in a high-volume bar
Experience with computerized cash registers preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to diffuse conflict within the bar
Developed problem-solving skills required
Organization skills required
Required to complete and successfully pass the Avenue5 Fair Housing, Diversity and Inclusion Training within the first 30 days of employment
Required to maintain a regular schedule which may require working outside of business hours, weekends, and non-traditional holidays
May be required to be on-call and aid during staffing deficiencies on-site
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
Ability to move on uneven surfaces
Ability to move up and down several flights of stairs daily
Must be able to observe and detect signs of emergency through visual and/or auditory cues
Must be able to remain stationary, move around, reach, and position oneself as needed for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and express or exchange ideas with others as well as those activities in which they must convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
Ability to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels, including the ability to receive detailed information through communication, and to make the discriminations in sound
Ability to compare, copy, coordinate, synthesize, negotiate, communicate, and instruct
Ability to tolerate stressful situations
Talking and expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
Ability to work under minimal to moderate supervision

Responsibilities

Greet, welcome, and interact with guests in a warm and friendly manner
Take orders, prepare drinks according to recipes, and serve all food and beverage requests in the bar
Demonstrate complete knowledge of the food and beverage menu
Prepare the bar for service by ensuring bar supplies, garnishes, and utensils are properly set up per quality standards
Inventory unused liquor and beverages. Ensure that all liquor is properly secured before, during, and at the close of the shift
Adhere to all cash handling and credit card policies and procedures. Ensure that all drink orders from servers are accurately rung into the P.O.S. System
Clean and reset bar top and tables immediately after guest department
Complete all closing duties and reports as assigned
Secure all liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets, and storage areas
Adhere to the established safety and sanitation guidelines
Adhere to uniform and grooming standards
Perform other duties as assigned
Advertise the daily, weekly, and monthly promotions of the bar
Ability to professionally and efficiently handle customer complaints
