About The Position

A Bartender is part of the Food and Beverage Department’s Bars and Cabanas team. This role supports the team by being cross-trained in both the bartender and cabana server positions and also assists as a runner and barback when needed. Bartenders provide exceptional service while preparing high-quality alcoholic beverages for guests of legal drinking age. Our bartenders are enthusiastic, service-oriented, and embody our signature Cowabunga-friendly hospitality. They take and prepare drink orders for both bar guests and cabana servers, maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming bar area at all times. Bartenders must have thorough knowledge of our specialty drink menu, as well as all draft and bottled beer offerings, and be able to confidently describe these selections to guests. In addition to beverage service, bartenders are expected to be familiar with the park layout and offerings to assist guests with general questions and provide helpful guidance. All bartenders are required to review and adhere 100% to Cowabunga Vegas’ TAM-approved alcoholic beverage service plan. The ideal candidate is guest-focused, detail-oriented, proactive in meeting guest needs, and committed to creating a Good-Clean-Fun experience for every guest at Cowabunga Vegas.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must have or obtain a valid Food Handler’s permit and TAM certification.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • May be required to lift 25–50 lbs.
  • May be required to work in various weather conditions, such as direct sunlight, high temperatures, or rain.
  • Must be able to multitask and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to communicate in a positive and professional manner and work well with others.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service at Cowabunga Vegas.
  • Take and enter guest beverage orders using the point-of-sale system in accordance with Cowabunga Vegas procedures, including verifying IDs for all guests appearing under the age of 35 when purchasing alcoholic beverages.
  • Ensure timely delivery of checks, receipts and accurately process bar guest payments.
  • Ensure assigned areas are fully prepared before opening by completing all prep, stocking, cleaning, and furniture reset tasks.
  • Complete daily restocking and cleaning tasks assigned by departmental leadership, as well as weekly deep cleaning tasks.
  • Ensure all products are properly rotated and that FIFO (first in, first out) is followed.
  • Maintain knowledge of all food and beverage items available for purchase, including on-site offerings, cabana-only menu items, specialty cocktails, beers, and liquors served, and assemble items when appropriate.
  • Comply with all Pyek Group and Cowabunga Vegas and departmental policies and procedures, including the alcohol and tip policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health Department, TAM, and local (city and county) alcohol regulations while maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment.
  • Promote ongoing sales initiatives.
  • Maintain knowledge of point-of-sale systems and relevant health, alcohol, and food service laws and regulations.
  • Proactively identify operational and equipment issues and collaborate with departmental leadership to resolve them when appropriate.
  • Embody Cowabunga Vegas’s moment making keys of intentionality, Cowabunga-friendliness, safety, cleanliness, and fun throughout all departments.
  • Assist with additional responsibilities, roles, departments, or park locations as needed.
