About The Position

We maintain high expectations for our bartenders. Traditionally, they are the most knowledgeable and seasoned employees in the Front of House. Blue Plate also knows that many bartenders have an ego, an attitude, a je ne sais quoi. The best ones usually do. We want you to want to be the best. Take that edge and turn it into a great experience for the guest. Pay attention to the little things – your guests will appreciate it whether they realize it or not Keep your body language open Multi-task! Have a positive attitude! Yes, you can still do this and have that bartender swagger. Smile. Non-negotiable.

Requirements

  • The position requires a high school diploma and/or GED equivalent.
  • Prefer one to three years of bartending experience.
  • The position also requires the following: exceptional interpersonal communications skills; strong organization skills; a high level of ability to multi-task; passion for the business; ability to develop and maintain strong and regular customer relationships; ability to provide work direction and an appropriate level of supervision for the Barback position, (if applicable); must have reliable transportation; knowledge of a second language would be a plus; and, the ability to pass all required pre-employment background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare alcohol and non-alcohol beverages.
  • Interact with customers, take orders and serve snacks and drinks.
  • Assess customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations.
  • Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails.
  • Plan and present bar menu.
  • Check customers’ identification and confirm that it meets legal drinking age.
  • Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies.
  • Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience.
  • Provide work direction and supervision for the Barback position, (if applicable).
  • Participate in and satisfactorily complete all required training for the applicable position.
  • Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters and maintains positive relationships with coworkers and supervisors. This would include but not be limited to such actions: resolution of conflicts in a positive manner; courteous treatment of staff, customers, vendors and visitors; respect of others’ property and person, professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors and subordinates.
