Job Description Bartender - Introductory Period From date of hire, there is a one hundred eighty-day (180) introductory period for all new hires. Excellent attendance is required with schedule flexibility determined by business needs. During these 180 days, Fifth Avenue Restaurant Group will evaluate your performance to determine any areas of improvements, additional training or if dismissal is necessary. Essential Job Functions. Duties include but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, touch, climb, lift, and read (see) for extended periods of time (8 hours+).
  • Must be able to regularly and safely lift and move boxes, supplies, and materials weighing 25 lbs. or more
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, noisy, and sometimes limited movement environment.
  • Must be able to maintain sanitation, food safety, and other food service environment requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and control the operations of the bar.
  • Serve wine, mixed/well drinks, and bottled or draft beer.
  • Mix ingredients, such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters, in order to prepare cocktails and other drinks.
  • Collect money for drinks served. Balance cash receipts at end of shift.
  • Check identification of customers in order to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.
  • Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons.
  • Serve snacks or other food items to customers seated at the bar.
  • Slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.
  • Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays.
  • Supervise the work of bar staff and other bartenders.
  • Plan bar menus. Create drink recipes.
  • Order or requisition liquors and supplies.
  • Clean bars, work areas, and tables. Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment.
  • Monitor customers who become loud and obnoxious. In extreme cases, ask them to leave or physically remove them.
  • Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers' excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons.
  • Works under their immediate restaurant supervision.
