About The Position

The National Union Building is a historic multi‑level event venue in downtown Washington, DC , hosting corporate and private events in a restored 1890 landmark with seven floors and 11 event spaces . The National Union Building is actively seeking Bartender/Servers to join our crew for a seasonally changing pop‑up bar operating within the National Union Building. The pop‑up concept rotates throughout the year, meaning menus, themes, and guest experience elements may shift with each season. This is a high‑energy, guest‑facing role suited for bartenders who are adaptable, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in a dynamic event‑driven environment. Requirements

  • 2+ years bartending experience
  • Commitment to and alignment with the company's core values
  • Ability to operate point-of-sales systems (Toast)
  • Keen understanding that a positive guest experience is imperative to success
  • Well-organized with ability to take and place food and beverage orders accurately
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds for short periods of time
  • Previous bartending experience in bars, pop‑ups, events, or high‑volume environments
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules
  • Comfort working in a fast‑paced setting with changing concepts
  • Interest in themed or seasonal bar experiences

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve cocktails, beer, wine, and non‑alcoholic beverages efficiently and accurately
  • Deliver a welcoming, professional guest experience in a themed pop‑up environment
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area before, during, and after service
  • Follow all alcohol service, safety, and venue procedures
  • Adapt quickly to seasonal menu changes, service styles, and event needs
  • Collaborate with barbacks, supervisors, and event staff to support smooth service
