About The Position

This position involves preparing, pouring, and serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The role requires a comprehensive knowledge of mixology, including food and wine pairings, as well as wine presentation and service. The bartender will be responsible for ensuring the bar is adequately stocked and maintained, greeting guests, and serving drinks according to standard recipes. The bartender must also adhere to all laws and club policies regarding alcohol service.

Requirements

  • Minimum grade 12 education.
  • One year of bartending experience.
  • Skilled at slowing and refusing alcoholic beverage service when necessary.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Basic knowledge of club's POS system or comparable POS system preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
  • Ability to work large or small events with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.

  • Knowledgeable of all aspects of department and daily club operations, including events and operating hours.
  • Complies with basic safety and sanitation requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect the bar prior to opening to ensure that adequate supplies are available.
  • Request additional supplies as necessary and stock the bar.
  • Follow set-up procedures.
  • Prepare garnishes, fruit mixes, and pre-mixed drinks prior to opening the bar.
  • Greet members and guests.
  • Mix, prepare, and serve drinks to members and guests according to approved standard recipes.
  • Collect checks and payments for drinks served.
  • Report complaints to a manager as they occur.
  • Maintain and clean the bar area and equipment.
  • Maintain records of liquors, beers, and wine to ensure bar stock is maintained at all times.
  • Clean and lock the bar area according to prescribed closing procedures.
  • Ensure that all food items are correctly stored, labeled, dated, and rotated to prevent health or safety hazards.
  • Attend staff meetings including pre-shift sessions and training as required.
  • Follow all laws and club policies regarding alcoholic beverage service.
  • Practice beverage and revenue control procedures.
  • Complete other appropriate work assignments as requested by supervisor.
