The role of the Eligibility Specialist is to strengthen Michigan families by ensuring that each person or family that applies for public assistance receives the type and level of assistance that they are eligible for. This involves assessing the needs of each person or family and providing them with appropriate information, as well as making any necessary referrals or contacts to persons or agencies that can help them meet their needs. Additionally, the Eligibility Specialist will provide all families with information about the expectations and goals of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and encourage and guide families in their efforts to become self-supporting.
