About The Position

Company Background: The HORD team, nationally known for our world class pig production, is currently looking for individuals to add to our sow farm barn maintenance team. This position offers supportive training to help you tailor your skills to our facilities. A day in the life: Ensure operation of mechanical equipment by assisting in preventive maintenance requirements; building competency in reading and comprehending diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications Complete required documentation for repair orders; parts and materials procurement Implement improved equipment opportunities, learning how best to troubleshoot malfunctions Assist in fabricating repair parts as needed Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results Maintain exterior and interior components of all farms to company standards Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations As experience and proficiency are gained, assignments will become more varied and challenging, and supervision will become more general, rather than direct

Requirements

  • 1-2 years in maintenance
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Candidates must not currently own or have routine contact with swine
  • Desire and ability to work in a physically strenuous environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Impeccable record of reliability/dependability
  • Display a high level of respect to team members and animals
  • Willingness to learn and carry out complex instructions effectively
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds; bend and twist easily; and push, pull, reach and grab freely
  • Work 45-50 hours per week including on-call availability and weekend work as needed
  • Basic math and reading skills

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in all types of welding
  • basic skills in carpentry, fabricating, and electrical maintenance are also highly desirable
