About The Position

The Barn Assistant at Manes & Motions Therapeutic Riding Center is responsible for the daily care and management of horses, ensuring their health and well-being. This role involves various tasks such as feeding, administering medications, and maintaining the cleanliness of the barn environment. The Barn Assistant plays a crucial role in monitoring the horses' health and communicating any concerns to the Program Coordinator.

Requirements

• Ability to take a horse's vital signs and identify health concerns, illnesses, and unsoundness.
• One year of experience in the field of equine care.

Nice To Haves

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least two years of horse ownership experience.

Responsibilities

• Daily care and management of horses including feeding and administering supplements/medications.
• Mucking stalls and paddocks, cleaning feed and water buckets, and performing associated barn chores.
• Turning horses out and bringing them in according to program schedules and weather conditions.
• Monitoring the overall health and soundness of the horses and reporting any concerns to the Program Coordinator.
• Implementing equine first aid measures as needed.
