About The Position
We are a new cafe opening in Astoria, Queens, seeking a skilled Barista to join our team. This position is ideal for individuals who have a passion for coffee, tea, and creative food, and are committed to providing our guests with a friendly and welcoming experience. As a Barista, you will play a crucial role in creating a positive atmosphere for our customers while ensuring that their orders are prepared accurately and efficiently. You will be responsible for operating espresso machines and other equipment, maintaining cleanliness in the work and dining areas, and adhering to food safety regulations. This role requires a strong focus on customer service, as you will be the first point of contact for our guests, welcoming and greeting them, answering their questions, and taking their orders. You will also need to maintain knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and allergens to provide accurate information to guests. The position offers both part-time and full-time opportunities, with expected hours ranging from 25 to 35 per week. Competitive hourly compensation is offered based on experience, along with tips. In addition to your barista duties, you will be responsible for cleaning and re-stocking the work and dining area, sanitizing equipment and utensils, and taking inventory of items in display cases and refrigerators. You will also be expected to wash dishes, silverware, mugs, and coffee equipment during and at the end of your shift. This is a fast-paced work environment, and the ability to handle multiple tasks effectively while maintaining a high level of quality is essential.
