About The Position

Delivers excellent customer experiences through positive interactions with guests, offering knowledge of coffee and drink menu, delivering efficient service and quality food and beverage items.

Requirements

Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

Ability to describe all menu items, prices and methods of preparation.

Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F), possibly for one hour or more.
High school or equivalent education preferred.
Prior experience working in a food and beverage establishment required.
Must have valid food handler’s card.
All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Westin/Solea Carlsbad’s standards.
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Westin/Solea Carlsbad Resort & Spa from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.
Employees with irregular attendance / tardies will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Westin/Solea Carlsbad Resort & Spa rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Responsibilities

Complete opening and closing duties including setting up necessary supplies and tools, cleaning all equipment and areas, locking doors, etc. Set up, stock, and maintain work areas.
Maintains a positive and friendly demeanor with customers and colleagues, presents a welcoming environment, welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, offers education on the coffee drink menu and the “To Go” menu, answers questions, and delivers on customer’s coffee and “To Go” order interests and needs.
Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, expresso, expresso lungo, caffe latte, and cappuccino.
Generates revenues by defining new and expanded services and products.
Input orders into cash register system and collect payment from customer.
Take orders, record in the POS system and prepare food and coffee beverages.
Ensure that appliances (e.g., coffee makers) are turned on/off at the appropriate times.
Bus coffee cart areas and tables.
Clean dishes, utensils, work areas, tables and equipment throughout the day.
Obtain change required for expected business level.
Count bank at end of shift, complete designated cashier reports, resolve any discrepancies, drop off receipts, and secure bank.
Maintains proper care up upkeep of equipment by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications.
Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
Support all co-workers and treat them with dignity and respect.
Support team to reach common goals. Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.

Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Westin/Solea Carlsbad Resort & Spa rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel’s facilities.
Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
