About The Position

The Barista welcomes our guests to the Lava Java in a warm and enthusiastic fashion. Smiles and presents a professional appearance, preparing and serving a variety of coffee drinks, along with pastries, snacks and cookies.

Requirements

• At least 3-12 months of relevant experience and/or training.
• A combination of experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for either requirement.
• Ability to always maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges.
• Must be able to attain a valid San Diego County Food Handler certification upon hire. Evans Hotels will provide this training and is to be completed at the company’s expense.
• RBS certification required.
• Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required.
• Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 25 lbs.

• Previous similar position in a hotel, or similar business entity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques.
• Influences customer flow for good service while fulfilling guests' requests.
• Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies, pastries, snacks and cookies for coffee bar.
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
• Operates a POS system, records and accounts for items sold, and issues a receipt for each transaction.
• Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.
