About The Position

The barista prepares a variety of iced and hot beverages following the customer's orders and our standard recipes. The barista is responsible for serving all products with friendly, individualized attention towards each customer and educating customers about our many offerings including pastries, coffees, kombucha, gelato, and teas. The barista fulfills any other duties the management team assigns and represents Saint Luke's in a professional manner. Being a part of the Nutrition Department means that you get to be a part of the team that cares for patients in a non-medical capacity. Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of applicable experience.
  • Food Handlers Permit.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiently prepares drinks following customer orders and our standard recipes.
  • Ensures that all drip coffee varieties are brewed fresh and replenished promptly.
  • Maintains proper food handling procedures when serving drinks, pastries, and gelato.
  • Routinely cleans and sanitizes workstations as well as customer seating areas and self-service areas.
  • Accurately rings sales orders into cash register and counts back change to customers in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Greets all customers with fast, friendly, personalized service and develops a rapport with customers by learning their names, favorite drinks and food items.
  • Restocks shelves and coolers with products while ensuring proper rotation procedures (FIFO).
  • Follows proper cleaning procedures for all equipment (smoothie machine, espresso machines, dishwasher, coolers).
  • Prepares to answer customer questions in a friendly manner, including directions around the hospital.
  • Preps and prepares menu items and recipes as required based on inventory, rotation, and usage.
  • Proficient on IT systems as required.
  • Proficient in cash handling, counting, end of shift reports and cash drops.
