About The Position

UW Medicine-Montlake- Food and Nutrition has an outstanding opportunity for a Barista (Food Service Worker 2). WORK SCHEDULE Full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week) Two full time openings with different schedule patterns Night shift, Sunday-Thursday, 8pm-4:30am Monday-Friday or Sunday-Wednesday, 2pm-10:30pm (could be some morning shifts included) Day Shift DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Nutrition and Food Services department supports UWMC's mission by delivering extraordinary experiences with compassionate evidence-based care, unforgettable customer service, and fresh and nutritious food for patients, families, and the greater community. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Independently operate a remote food service area / espresso bar Performs routine work in preparing and serving espresso beverages and food items and cleaning activities Performs a variety of duties in the preparation and service of espresso beverages and food items

Requirements

  • Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment
  • one year of experience preparing and serving food and beverage.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent, respectful customer service to a diverse customer base, in a medical setting.
  • Train new or unskilled employees in the preparation and service of espresso beverages and food items; cleaning and stocking duties and departmental procedures.
  • Operate all espresso and/or food service equipment and machinery.
  • Prepare and serve food items.
  • Stock supplies necessary for preparation and service of beverages and food items.
  • Display food and espresso items in attractive manner.
  • Operate cash register.
  • Handle cash, check and charge payments for beverage and food items in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
