Requirements

  • Must have or the ability to obtain an Alaska Food Handler's Card.
  • Must have a valid alcohol safety card for the State of Alaska.
  • Minimum age of 21 years required to serve alcohol in the State of Alaska.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Minimum age of 18 years is required to reside in company housing, where available.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States. Holland America-Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-2B status).
  • Ability to prioritize work, maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment. You must also have the ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain attention to detail and accuracy, supervise and manage staff.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals.
  • Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards.
  • Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for minimum of 8 hours per day.

Responsibilities

  • Organizing and setting up workspace before, during, and after each shift including stocking, cleaning, sanitizing, and preparatory work.
  • Working with the F&B leadership team to ensure the smooth operation of coffee sales.
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of the coffee beverages being offered.
  • Train and encourage the growth of fellow team members.
  • Greeting and welcoming guests to the restaurant while maintaining a professional appearance.
  • Knowledgably present menus and recommendations to guests.
  • Using the company's sequence with guests to make sure they are having a quality beverage experience.
  • Clearing, cleaning, sanitizing, and resetting the venue as needed.
  • Efficiently operating a computerized point of sale system, completing financial transactions accurately, making change, and running credit cards.
  • Effectively and proactively communicate any safety, guest, or employee concerns with the Supervisors and Management.
  • Contributing to the overall success of the venue, and welcoming guests as needed.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in all work and storage spaces.
  • Contribute effectively to a positive guest experience while maintaining a professional attitude and appearance.
